Searchable Sources

Searching

Our search engine combines the indexed annotations and locus names from 7,118 genes of 4 different organisms with the indexed titles, descriptions and authors of various SAXS experiments.

The search queries are processed in an attempt to interpret the intent of the user. Consider the difference between searching for an ORF with a simple query such as "PF1119" versus "show me PF1119". In the simple case, the query returns a positive or negative value depending on if the name of the ORF has been recorded in the database, whereas the latter case "show me PF1119" is commanding the search engine to show the details of the gene directly.

General Tips
  • Searching for "show me PF1120" or "view PF1120" will display the sequence details of the ORF.
  • Searching for "dna helicase" will find all annotated dna helicases.
  • "Dna helicase from sso" will find all annotated dna helicases from sulfolobus.
  • To view multiple ORFs at the same time just search for "view PF1120, SSO1450, SSO1405".
